What is this voice recorder?
It records your microphone right in the browser. You can listen back and download the file. Nothing is uploaded — the recording only lives in this page.
How to use it
- Press Record. Allow the microphone when your browser asks. To use another microphone, pick it from the list first.
- Speak. Press Pause and Resume as often as you like — it all ends up in one file.
- Press Stop. A player appears so you can listen back straight away.
- Press Download. Nothing is saved automatically. If you close the tab first, the recording is gone.
What everything means
- Status. Ready, recording, paused, or done.
- Length and size. How long the recording is, and how big the file is so far.
- Level bar. How loud your voice is. It should move when you speak.
- Buttons. Record and Stop, Pause, Download, and Discard to throw the recording away.
Listen back and download
After you press Stop, a player appears. Listen, then press Download to save the file on your device.
Is it private?
The recording stays on your device and is never uploaded. The download is made on your device too.
What kind of file do I get?
Usually WebM (Opus), or MP4 audio (.m4a) on Apple devices. The file includes its length, so current browsers should show it and let you skip through. Some older media players can’t open WebM.
How long can I record?
Up to 60 minutes or about 64 MB, then it stops by itself. Download each clip before recording another.
Why did my recording disappear?
It lives in the page, so reloading or closing the tab clears it. Download it first.
Can I record sound from my computer or a call?
No, only the microphone.
